May 3rd, 2018 was the first of 4 “Change the Conversation” Roadshows, an event only for RISO dealers that looks at the impact of inkjet on the print industry. The first leg of the national tour was held at the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel on May 3rd & 4th and it featured dealers from RISO’s eastern region of the country. From Maine to Virginia over 40 dealer principals, managers and salespeople discussed how to effectively position inkjet as a solution that helps “bridge the gap” between monochrome and color. Somewhere in between that B/W office CPC of 1.2 cents and 6.5 cents for color lies an opportunity to fit a 90 page per minute RISO inkjet printer that offers color at less than half of the cost of toner. Production print was another topic on the agenda as the industry continues to shift from toner to inkjet. What was once a technology for high volume transactional print outlets alone is now filtering into mid-size commercial printers and in-plants.
RISO staff and dealers had a chance to see the Philadelphia skyline from the top of the R2L restaurant in the city’s downtown area. It was a chance for some dealers to catch up and for others to form new relationships. Most importantly, everyone walked away with a sense of how advantageous it is to offer end users a complete solution that involves feature-filled MFP’s in tandem with the speed and economy of RISO inkjet color output. Look for news on RISO’s next dealer event in Atlanta coming June 12th and 13th, 2018.
