Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, continuing its support of Arizona State University by serving as presenting sponsor of Sun Devil 100 and its recent celebration highlighting the impact of ASU alumni.
The event and luncheon, held April 24-25, commemorated the program’s largest cohort to date, honoring 205 alumni who help drive economic growth and shape industries across the nation. Hosted annually by the ASU Alumni Association, this prestigious awards program recognizes the university’s fastest-growing alumni-owned or -led organizations. The class included entrepreneurs and leaders across a diverse range of sectors, including architecture, construction, information technology, legal services, health care, marketing, public relations, nonprofit organizations, real estate, and more.
Canon, which also serves as an ASU sustainability partner, sponsored the Sun Devil 100 event for the third consecutive year; with the latest iteration honoring a class whose companies generated a combined revenue total of more than $70 billion in 2023 (the last full year of reporting) and employed more than 256,000 full-time professionals. Among the 205 people acknowledged were 75 first-time honorees.
To be considered for the Sun Devil 100, companies must be ASU alumni owned or led, have been in business for at least three years, have revenues of $250,000-plus for the past three years, and operate in a manner consistent with the ASU Charter. Additionally, ASU alumni must hold a C-level title within their company and show a minimum five-percent growth year-over-year. Companies are honored across three levels: revenues in the $250,000-$1.99 million range, the $2 million to $9.99 million range, and the $10 million-and-higher range.
Peter P. Kowalczuk, Canon U.S.A., Inc.’s executive vice president and Client Services Group president, said Canon’s continued support of Sun Devil 100 has helped encourage new and growing companies, as well as older and more established business as well.
“Canon is proud of its strong relationship with ASU, and we’re excited to see this talented group honored for their contributions across different industries,” Kowalczuk said. “It remains important to support those who demonstrate leadership qualities while pushing their companies forward, and Canon congratulates these leaders on their accomplishments and wishes them continued success.”
