#TBT: Who remembers an OEM called SCM Corp.?

Fifty years ago, in mid-1975, SCM discontinued development of a plain‐paper copier, a project it had been working on for several years, the New York Times reported. Paul H. Elicker, SCM’s then-president, said, ā€œThe long‐term financial risk involved in placing highly featured copiers of this type on lease is disproportionate to the likely rewards.ā€ Some 120 employees were laid off.

SCM had brought a $435 million antitrust/patent lawsuit against Xerox Corp. (The print advertisement shown below dates back to 1971).
