Vanderbilt University Launches Campus-wide Printing Services Upgrade Initiative

by Mark Vruno

Press release from the issuing institution:

Vanderbilt University Printing Services will launch a campus-wide CampusPrint upgrade initiative beginning in May 2026, modernizing nearly 400 copy and print multifunction devices (MFDs) across the university.

Vanderbilt CampusPrint

CampusPrint is Vanderbilt’s managed print program, providing a consistent, secure and cost-effective printing experience for departments across campus. This upgrade reflects a continued investment in that system, ensuring it remains reliable, efficient, and aligned with the university’s long-term operational needs.

As part of this initiative, Vanderbilt is also renewing its agreement with RJ Young, a longtime technology partner to the university. Together, Printing Services and RJ Young will deploy a new generation of devices designed to improve performance, reliability and service responsiveness.

What’s changing

  • Replacement of nearly 400 copiers/printers across campus
  • Installation of updated, more reliable and energy-efficient equipment
  • Continued partnership with RJ Young to support device management and service

What’s not changing

  • The CampusPrint program and its core functionality
  • Print queues, secure release, and “print from anywhere” capabilities
  • Department workflows and current pay-per-use billing structure

What to expect during installation

Installations will occur on a rolling, building-by-building schedule beginning in early May, concluding in late summer.

  • Each device replacement will take approximately one hour
  • Printing, copying and scanning will be temporarily unavailable during installation
  • Designated department contacts will receive schedules approximately 10 days in advance

This phased approach is designed to minimize disruption while ensuring a smooth transition to the upgraded fleet.

A coordinated campus effort

This initiative is the result of extensive planning and collaboration across the Division of Administration, Printing Services, Facilities, VUIT, and campus partners. Facilities zone managers will support building access and coordination throughout the installation process.

“This upgrade represents a significant investment in the CampusPrint program and the infrastructure that supports it,” said Mike Puckett, director of Vanderbilt University Printing Services. “By modernizing our equipment and continuing our partnership with RJ Young, we’re ensuring that departments across campus have access to reliable, high-quality print services for years to come.”
