In this week’s episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata discusses production inkjet opportunities with Andre D’Urbano of RISO Printing. The OEM’s sales VP asks who made the “law” that says office technology/equipment dealers only need to charge a penny a page for inkjet! These dealers are leaving money on the proverbial table, points out D’Urbano, who noted that 2025 marks RISO’s 20th year in the inkjet space. He goes on to cite key differences between deploying inkjet technology in the traditional office landscape versus production print environments.
Bottom lines of financial balance sheets have been severely challenged since 2019. D’Urbano calls this six-year period an “economic minefield”āfrom the COVID-19 pandemic, subsequent pressure on paper prices and wage increases due to retirements, to ongoing postage increases and, now, tariffs’ uncertainity. Under-pricing inkjet reproduced pages needlessly punishes dealers from capturing much needed revenue, he urges.
