Fridays with Frank – MORE TECH TALK ABOUT INKJET

by Mark Vruno

In this week’s episode, Frank G. Cannata continues with his line of thinking about light production inkjet presses. He cites the example of Kyocera and the success the OEM has had with its TASKalfa Pro 15000c model, which features a line-type printhead for single-pass printing at speeds up 150 pages per minute—and continuous printing of 9,000 A4 letter-size sheets per hour.

For end users, cut-sheet inkjet production devices like these can be ideal the ideal solution for certain applications in vertical markets, such as higher education. At a low cost per page of 1.5 cents for color, the ROI seems like a “no-brainer” to Frank. Sure, there are limitations versus toner, he acknowledges, but inkjet fits a niche: particularly in the education sector, where image quality may not be as critical. Ohio dealership Visual Edge IT is a believer, and Frank encourages more independent office equipment dealers to take a hard look at inkjet technology as they march toward 2026.
