In this week’s episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata continues his keen observations regarding the Kyocera-Xerox cutsheet inkjet partnership in the production print space. “Inkjet is it!” Frank exclaims. Not that toner is going away, he notes . . . but so far as the A4 format is concerned, nothing can compete with inkjet on a price basis. Dealer owners need to ask themselves whether inkjet production printing technology can fill an application need for them, he believes, citing the education vertical market as a prime example for in-plant customers.
Forging this relationship is a victory for both OEM parties, Frank contends, making Xerox and Kyocera stronger. And, the news should serve as “a wake-up call for dealers,” he suggests. Cannata goes on to speculate that Xerox may not yet be finished as the company’s reinvention continues. Who knows, he asks? On the toner side of the business, they may choose to partner with another OEM, beyond Fujifilm. Stay tuned!
