Fridays with Frank – Sharp at PRINTING United Expo 2026 and Beyond

Two new, high-end production color devices were shown as technology previews.

In this episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata talks with Dino Pagliarello, vice president of Product Management and Production Print at Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, about the OEM’s exhibit at PRINTING United Expo 2026 last month. Pagliarello explains the tradeshow’s significance, saying that Sharp’s presence in Las Vegas was all about brand awareness in the production printing space. Two new products were displayed as technology previews: a 100-page-per-minute (ppm), five-color device and its smaller 85-ppm cousin. These new models, which round out Sharp’s portfolio of high-end production color, Pagliarello notes, are set to roll out in early 2027.

Might Sharp foray into inkjet?

Cannata lauds Sharp’s Executive Experience Center (EEC) in New Jersey, where customers and prospects can see how all of the OEM’s solutions work together. Pagliarello announced that a Midwest EEC recently opened near Chicago, in Downers Grove, Illinois. Their conversation turns to the appealing features of Sharp’s production print devices, which Pagliarello believes are the high volumes possible in five and six colors. He describes these capabilities as a “differentiator” as well as a “good add-on.” He goes on to explain that education is the key to office technology dealers adding and growing production printing. “Every page you get is net new business,” Pagliarello says, which “helps to alleviate some of the challenges of pages declining in the office environment.” Cannata wonders whether inkjet technology could be in Sharp’s future. Pagliarello’s answer is perhaps, but not yet.
