Fridays with Frank – Kyocera’s Production Printing Enhancements

by Mark Vruno

In this episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata and José Estébanez, marketing VP for Kyocera Document Solutions America, continue their discussion about the state of the office technology industry for dealers. Cannata asks about the production printing side of the OEM’s business, praising the TASKalfa Pro 15000c model and its MPS appeal for higher-education institutions. Estébanez confirms market traction and the cutsheet-inkjet device’s popularity, noting that Kyocera has led the market for the past four to five years. With 141 total units placed in that segment, Kyocera enjoys a 40% market share, he reports. Even with the capacity to print up to two million pages per month, the TASKalfa Pro 15000c is reliable and features low maintenance requirements.

Enhancements to Kyocera’s platform

Stressing that Kyocera wants to keep growing its platform, Estébanez mentioned the addition of booklet-making, with partner Plockmatic, which The Cannata Report saw in action last fall at the PRINTING United Expo. In 2026, dealers can expect to see three additional features added:

  1. a roll-to-cut paper feeder
  2. inline perforation capability
  3. cover feeder/inserter (for thicker and glossy paper stocks)

In addition, Estébanez said Kyocera soon will launch a tandem, double-engine configuration (outputting 292 pages per minute) for higher-volume jobs. A second configuration will also be introduced later this year, but you’ll have to watch the video interview to hear about that one! Frank is jazzed about the future, and the staying power of the industry’s manufacturers is a big reason why. José assured him that Kyocera views the channel market as still very viable, adding that he sees substantial growth potential by providing solutions in areas such as:

  • cloud services
  • workflows
  • document management and archiving
  • OCRs (optical-character-recognition devices)
