In this week’s episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata welcomes special guest Larry White, president and CEO of Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS). As they discuss thinning margins and improving profitability for dealerships, Cannata contends that inkjet is the future of MPS (managed print services), especially in the A4 space. Several OEMs are making inkjet investments, even in the textile printing space.
White agrees, asserting that inkjet technology will evolve faster than what people may think. He cites liquid toner advantages from his time at Savin early in his career and also points out that RISO uses Toshiba’s printheads. The TABS leader then wades “into the weeds” on more benefits of inkjet printing technology. From the standpoint of profit margins, operational and consummable costs combine to form a painful “Achilles’ heel” for many dealers, White notes, but the (inkjet) technology is catching up to the A4 chassis.
