Fridays with Frank – Kyocera’s New Nova A3 MFPs

by Mark Vruno

In this episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata offers an optimistic message regarding the office technology business. He asks José Estébanez, marketing VP for Kyocera Document Solutions America, about the OEM’s Nova  A3 series, which it introduced last month. The new line consists of four monochrome devices, printing up to 100 pages per minute (ppm), and three 85-ppm color devices. Estébanez explains how the Nova multifunction printers position the manufacturer and dealers to “play in new segments . . . like high-volume printing and scanning environments.” He cites the education and legal sectors as vertical-market examples.

Kyocera’s license for speeding

The Nova MFPs can reproduce high-quality imagery on glossy paper up to 300 gsm (grams per square meter) in thickness, according to Estébanez. Other product highlights include automatic color calibration and new scanning capabilities: up to 300 impressions per minute. In addition, dual-toner containers translate to non-stop production, while the ability to handle 13×19.2-inch sheet sizes allows for full bleeds. Lastly, dealerships that don’t wish to inventory large amounts of units will be interested in Kyocera’s speed license. What is it? Estébanez explains the two-engine (color and mono) concept and how dealers can increase speeds by purchasing this license. Amid these new developments, the bottom line is to maintain a positive attitude because the future is bright, contends Cannata.
