In this week’s episode, Founder Frank G. Cannata continues his conversation with Larry White, president and CEO of Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS). White discusses tariffs, which he points out have had an impact on every manufacturer. Whether the economic hit is 25%, 37%, or 52%, all OEMs are being forced to adjust their costs. In TABS’ case, “we ate it,” he reports, and it showed in the company’s financial statements. But he adds that at least there seems to be some consistency now unlike four months ago. “You can’t hide from it anymore . . . but you can plan better [now].”
White also shares how Toshiba has uncovered new revenue via its thermal printing and cloud software businesses. “There are no tariffs on software,” he notes, adding that TABS’ annuity stream in this area grew by more than 30% last year. AI-driven workflows and translation services are big areas for the company.
