Acquisitions
In what was the biggest news of the month of July, Ricoh acquired DocuWare. Ricoh has a long-term existing partnership with DocuWare and employs its software both internally in its own operations and with existing customers. DocuWare will operate as a standalone subsidiary of Ricoh. Read more.
UBEO Business Services, co-headquartered in Austin and San Antonio, Texas, acquired AmPan, an information technology and services company based in Port Neches, Texas. The company is the original authorized Toshiba multifunction products dealer in the Golden Triangle area the region of Southeast Texas near the Louisiana border formed by Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange. Network Computing Solutions, a Copystar dealer that also offers Managed IT services, based in Topeka, KS, acquired Power On Technologies located in Kansas City, MO. Power On Technologies is also a Copystar dealer that also offers IT Managed Services and other IT a la carte services such as network, computer and server support, cloud backup services, and VoIP equipment and services. Prime Partnerships
Canon U.S.A., Inc. and McAfee have partnered to provide embedded protection against malware execution and tampering of firmware and applications for a sometimes-overlooked endpoint””MFPss Through the partnership, Canon customers will receive McAfee Embedded Control as an additional standard security feature on third-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE 3rd edition MFPs once enabled. Toshiba America Business Solutions and AEG are extending their comprehensive partnership across several of AEG’s flagship assets in a multiyear, multimillion-dollar renewal agreement. The new deal, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, expands the organization’s overall relationship with Toshiba and increases the brand’s presence across some of AEG’s sports and entertainment assets. As part of the deal, Toshiba remains a Founding Partner of STAPLES Center and the official digital signage and display provider of L.A. LIVE. Additionally, Toshiba becomes the official copier and multifunction printer provider of AEG, STAPLES Center, L.A. LIVE, the LA Kings, and select AEG Presents festivals. Toshiba will also become an official partner of the LA Galaxy, Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. and Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. Read more.
Electronics For Imaging, Inc. and Memjet have established a new partnership, bringing EFI Fiery digital front ends (DFEs) to the growing portfolio of Memjet DuraLink digital inkjet production solutions. EFI’s development of Fiery DFE solutions for printers featuring DuraLink technology means Memjet OEM customers will have access to what EFI calls one of the world’s most successful and reliable print servers for production-class digital color printing. Money Matters
Sales managers are making more money this year, according to the 2019 Sales Manager Salary Survey from Copier Careers, the recruiting firm focused exclusively on the copier channel. The survey also reveals that sales managers are working more hours than ever before, reasons for this extended work week, and what owners need to do to keep these individuals satisfied. According to the latest results, the average total compensation among sales managers increased $1,593 to $163,761, representing a 1% increase in base salary and commission. Sales managers have an average base salary of $63,739 and commissions totaling $100,022. Read more.

Wes McArtor, president of NEXERA, a BEI Services Company, announced that effective July 1, 2019, Ed McLaughlin had joined the NEXERA team as an executive advisor. McLaughlin has been closely following the expanding suite of services that NEXERA is bringing to the market utilizing the exclusive data that they have amassed over the past twenty-five plus years. It is the application of this new level of intelligence that attracted McLaughlin to help NEXERA provide even greater value to the OEM and dealer community, according to a NEXERA press announcement. Kyocera has recruited former Verizon executive, Frank Zupa, to lead its transformation toward “superior customer experience.” Zupa is joining Kyocera Document Solutions America as the vice president of customer operations, the latest high-profile hire by CEO Oscar Sanchez, who continues to re-shape Kyocera into a solutions-focused, data-driven organization. Toshiba America Business Solutions has named technology veteran Kerstin Woods vice president of product and solutions marketing. Toshiba’s newest executive is charged with creating and implementing expansion strategies for the company’s e-STUDIO multifunction printers, thermal barcode printers, network document solutions, point-of-sale products, Ellumina digital signage line as well as third-party hardware, software and SaaS offerings. Woods will also play a significant role in channel management, business development and revenue growth at Toshiba. Read more.

Konica Minolta has introduced its new High Chroma digital production press, the AccurioPress C83hc. With its High Chroma toner covering an extended color gamut, the AccurioPress C83hc reportedly reproduces images that are difficult to achieve with standard CMYK toner, such as bright purples and vibrant greens. Xerox announced a new series of three wireless printers designed to enhance small office mobility. Comprised of the Xerox B210 printer, and B205 and B215 multifunction printers, the devices offer wireless connectivity, allowing users to print anywhere, at any time. Read more.

The Collabrance Master MSSP offering provides end-user customers with a host of cybersecurity components and can reportedly help progressive solution providers differentiate in the IT channel. Kyocera Document Solutions America announced the launch of DMConnect, a capture, distribution, and workflow solution that allows users to organize, retrieve and utilize data and documents directly from a Kyocera MFP, or interactive digital source. Read more.
LMI Solutions announced the largest amount of new product launches in company history. The most recent releases are designed to help dealers grow their color and monochrome profit margins on popular HP and Brother printer models. Read more.
